Protax Main Tax Return
Overview
The main part of the tax return is the same for nearly all tax returns (one exception would be the actual tax return for a partnership). The main form is made of 10 pages which are in most tax returns. Normally the majority of the tax return isn't filled in as a lot of it is not applicable to the clients situation. Below is a list of a lot of the possible information that may be required for the tax return. Some is required for all.
Page 1
The first page contains very important information which is required for all tax returns. The name and address of the client and the tax office to which applies to the client. This should automatically be transferred across from Clientbase Also todays date is needed.
Page 2
This page is the page where if you have any extra pages required they need to be ticked. The most common pages will be self employed pages and employment pages.
Page 7
Question 18 needs to be ticked in all tax returns because we figure out the amount of tax due which allows us to have a later date for sending in the tax return. Make sure box 18.3 has the correct computation when the most recent computation has been done.
Page 8
Page 8 is required for when a refund is going to be received. Normally if the clients have not paid their fee's yet the refund is sent to Taxfile first so that the fee's can be taken out of the refund then given to the client. Box 19 is needed to be ticked to receive a refund otherwise the refund balance is brought forward to the next year. Then box 19B so that Taxfile can receive the refund. Also boxes 19B.2 and 19B.10 so that the tax office knows send the refund to our bank account. Below the boxes the bank details need to be filled in and may automatically all ready be filled in.
Extra Pages
If the client has done any self employment or has been employed or is part of a partnership then the client will need extra pages in the tax return. As show earlier you will need to use the add pages button to do this
